Farmers’ Participation in Agricultural Research and Rural Extension Programs: Empirical Evidence of Maize Producers in Sussundenga District, Mozambique

This study analyses the factors affecting farmers’ participation in agricultural research and rural extension programs Sussundenga district-Mozambique. We applied a questionnaire to 140 maize producers 18 technicians (extension agents researchers). Fieldwork was carried out February March, 2018. Logit binary regression, descriptive statistics content analysis were used analyze data. The results appoint that farmers' is considered weak, discontinuous low. Farmers' affected by practice of off-farm activities, membership associations, number technological demands production purpose. Nevertheless, institutional context interferes with willingness participate programs. article brings significant contributions literature discusses development In addition characteristics, institutions affects activities developed these organizations. promotion should be thought taking into consideration farmers are involved several activities. Furthermore, organizations need offer technologies services help finding solutions problems they face.
